Military Relocation to San Antonio

Orders to Joint Base San Antonio? This is the housing side of your move — base by base, budget by budget — from a brokerage built by a family that has made this exact move, more than once.

01

ONE CITY, THREE GATES

Joint Base San Antonio

San Antonio is Military City USA, and almost every military move here runs through Joint Base San Antonio. Which gate you report to shapes where home should be:

Fort Sam Houston

The Army's medical center of gravity — BAMC and the medical training pipeline. Neighborhoods to the north and northeast put you minutes from the gate with established schools and older, character-heavy housing stock.

Lackland AFB

Basic training and a deep technical-training mission on the southwest side. The west and southwest corridors offer the city's most BAH-friendly new construction, including our own neighborhood on Sirius Circle.

Randolph AFB

The "Showplace of the Air Force," northeast of the city. Schertz, Cibolo, and Converse have grown up around it — newer homes, strong schools, and an easy IH-35 run into San Antonio.

Orders change. If your gaining unit is not final, we plan around the most likely gates and keep your housing options flexible until the paperwork settles.

HOW WE WORK A RELOCATION

Built backwards from your report date
  1. STEP1The call — Thirty minutes, before you spend a dollar. We map your report date, your BAH, your family, and what home has to do for this tour.
  2. STEP2The ground truth — We send video walk-throughs with honest condition notes — not listing-photo optimism. If a house is wrong for you, you hear it from us first.
  3. STEP3The offer — Contracts written to protect a military timeline: inspection windows, financing milestones, and a closing date that lands before your report date pressure does.
  4. STEP4The landing — Utilities, school enrollment pointers, and a 90-day check-in after you are in. A relocation is not done at the closing table.

LED BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE THIS MOVE

Veteran-led, family-owned

Infinity Family Properties & Associates is led by Ian Alkire — 14 years in the U.S. Army, retired Sergeant First Class, then five years with the Department of Homeland Security — and his wife Jazmene "Jazz" Alkire, our Broker of Record. Between them: four-plus years deployed, and more Permanent Change of Station moves than they can count on one hand. This brokerage was built for the move you are making, by people who have made it.

Ian and Jazz are also listed on VeteranPCS's Texas page, a national directory of veteran and military-spouse agents — one more place military families find us, and check us out, before they ever call.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Straight answers

What does a military relocation to San Antonio actually involve?

Most military families moving to San Antonio are reporting to Joint Base San Antonio — Fort Sam Houston, Lackland AFB, or Randolph AFB. The housing decision runs on your report date: where to live relative to your base, whether to rent first or buy on arrival, and how your BAH lines up against real prices. Our PCS Checklist walks the full timeline, and this page covers the housing side of the move.

Should we rent first or buy when we arrive?

Both are defensible — it depends on your tour length, your BAH, and how well you know the area. Buying builds equity from month one and San Antonio prices still work on military budgets; renting first buys you a season to learn the city. We run both sets of numbers with you, honestly, before you commit to either.

Can you help us buy before we arrive in San Antonio?

Yes. Most of our relocating families start remote: video walk-throughs, honest condition notes, and a contract timeline built backwards from your report date. You should never buy a house here sight-unseen without someone on the ground whose only job is your side of the table.

What does it cost to work with you on a relocation?

Buyer representation is spelled out in writing before we start — who pays what, and how much. No surprises at the closing table, and no stack of third-party fees added on top: we are not tied into any vendor for leads, and we never tack a lead fee onto your transaction.
